Welcome to St. Boniface Catholic School!

Dear Friends,
Welcome to St. Boniface Catholic School. It is with great pride that I invite you to walk our halls, visit our classrooms, and talk with our students.   Our students have a love for life, a respect for friends, and a desire to become the best that they can.
Our Catholic faith is at the center of our school and is witnessed throughout our campus by our approach to learning and teaching, our play, in our personnel, curriculum, and extra-curricular activities.
Our close-knit parish family, small class size, and dedicated faculty/staff becomes “home” to your child and offers an environment that nurtures your child’s complete personal development. At St. Boniface we encourage your child to become life-long learners…to create, live, laugh, learn, play, and love in God’s image.
I hope you will come visit our school. I would love to share my enthusiasm with you.
Peace & All Good,

Sister Anna Flanigan, O.S.F.

Principal

Our Learning Philosophy
A fundamental objective of the school is to make available a Catholic education. An essential part of the educational program is furthering the knowledge and nurturing a deep sense of value of the Catholic Faith. Another basic objective of the school is, through the development of excellent academic programs and encouraging social surroundings, to provide an environment, which is conducive to both the student`s academic growth and self-discipline.

Our Mission
At St. Boniface School we are grateful for the opportunity to work together as we create the best learning environment possible. Each experience we share is brought to life through our awareness of God’s presence and His wisdom guides our every effort. As we teach children 21st century skills through our academically challenging program, we encourage the discovery and self-expression of their God-given talents and gifts. We create, learn, live, love, laugh and play in God’s image.

Our Administrative and Teaching Staff
All of our teaching staff have completed four year degrees in education and nearly one half of our teachers have a Masters degree.  Each teacher is certified and regularly attends educational seminars and religious retreats.

Our Parish Campus
Our Parish Campus consists of 6 buildings: Our beautiful new church which seats over 750 and has a finished lower level with meeting rooms, a small kitchen, and our media center; our Chapel, which seats over 100 and is used for smaller gatherings; our Parish Offices, K-8 School, Parish Center, and  Pre-school. Our history extends well beyond a century; the cornerstone for the original St. Boniface Church, built in 1869, still stands on our campus.  In 2004, we completed construction on a new place of worship.  Our intention was to "preserve the past and prepare for the future".  We accomplished this goal by maintaining the original structure and meeting our parish needs through a beautiful expansion.  As part of this initiative, we built a new Pre-school building that adjoins the Parish Center and renovated an existing building to house the Parish Offices.  The school building has been undergoing a complete renovation.

Our first objective was to enhance the classrooms where the students benefit from a state-of-the-art learning environment.  Our renovation plan will continue for the next few years as we identify meaningful ways to support the quality education offered at St. Boniface.

Our facility is only part of the renovation plan, we have a technology plan in place to bring additional opportunities to the classrooms, the teachers, and the students.  This has included the upgrade of our computer lab in 2005 to accommodate 30 new IBM computers; SMART Board technology in grades 5-8, and new computers in each classroom that are networked and Internet accessible.  This plan will continue to evolve as new needs emerge and are identified.

Our Student Services Support

  • Cafeteria
Students may choose to bring or purchase their lunch.  A hot lunch menu is available daily including an entrée, vegetable, side, dessert and choice of drink.
  • Library
The library is open to students and faculty for book exchange and for use as an information center throughout the school day. Students may exchange books or visit the media center for research or study during regularly scheduled periods or at other times with teacher permission.  The library also maintains a listing of approved AR (Accelerated Reader) titles.  This program is one of many ways we help students enhance their reading skills.
  • Health and Wellness
Vision and hearing screenings are provided by the Illinois Department of Health.  First Aid provisions follow Madison County  and Illinois State Department of Education School Health Guidelines and the Archdiocese of Springfield Regulations and Guidelines for Elementary School.  We have two volunteer Registered Nurses who maintain health and physical forms and are available, as needed, at the school.  We have locked medicine cabinets and adequate supplies for first aid.
  • Transportation
Students may use the Edwardsville School District #7 Bus Service. Specific times and pick-up or drop-off locations may be determined by calling 618/655-6011.  The majority of our parents  drive their children to and from school.
  • Before and After School Program
St. Boniface School operates an Extended Day Care program in the morning before school from 6:30 - 7:30 A.M. and after school from 2:35 until 6:00 P.M. The program operates on all full days and most half days of school. The program is not offered on holidays, teacher in-service days, snow days, or any other day when school is not in session.
The Extended Day Care Program is staffed by St. Boniface School teachers, parents, and students sixteen years of age or older. Provision is made for the students to do their homework, to enjoy recreational activities in the gym or outside when weather permits, and to have a snack time. For information about fees, etc. parents should contact the school office.
